Gym membership price calculator
Enter your monthly gym fee and the discount for longer plans. Get a 1, 3, 6 and 12 month price ladder with per-month cost, saving and tidy rounding.
Type your monthly fee and the discount you want to give on 3, 6 and 12 month plans. The calculator shows the price of each plan, what it works out to per month, and how much a member saves compared with paying monthly. For example, a 1,000 a month gym with 5%, 10% and 15% off gets plans of 2,850, 5,400 and 10,200 when rounded to the nearest 50.
How to read the ladder
The 1 month row is your base price. Every longer plan takes the discount off each month, then rounds the total. Three numbers sit in each row:
- Price is what the member pays at once.
- Per month is the price divided by the months, so you can compare plans on one scale.
- You save is what the member keeps compared with paying monthly for the same months. It is the number to put on the board.
Rounding is applied to the total, and per month and saving are worked out from the rounded total. The three numbers always agree with each other.
How to choose the discounts
Start with a rule, then test it against your costs.
- Make the discount grow with the plan. A 12 month plan should always have a bigger discount than a 6 month plan. The calculator warns you if it does not, because the member then has no reason to commit for longer.
- Keep the 3 month discount small. It is the plan most people try first. A small gap between monthly and 3 months is usually enough to move a member who was going to stay anyway.
- Spend the big discount on the long plan. A 12 month member pays you for the whole year at once, which helps cash flow and means you do not chase a renewal every month.
- Check the per-month number against your costs. If the 12 month per-month fee is below what you need from each member to cover rent, trainers and bills, the discount is too deep. The calculator flags anything above 30%.
Picking prices in India: general reasoning
These are questions to ask, not market averages. We do not quote an average fee because it differs by city, locality and what your gym offers.
- Cost per member. Add up your monthly costs: rent, trainer pay, power, equipment upkeep. Divide by the members you realistically have, not the members you hope for. That is the least you can charge each month. Anything above it is margin.
- Local competitors. Visit or phone two or three gyms within a few kilometres and ask their rates. The aim is to check that your price is not far off for what you give: floor space, trainers, hours, equipment.
- Tiered durations. Offer one monthly price and two or three longer plans, as this tool does. Longer plans make a steadier income and fewer renewals to chase.
- Add-ons separately. If you charge for personal training or a one time admission fee, keep it separate from the plan price so the plan stays simple.
Change your price once a year at most, and put the new fee on the board with a start date so regular members are not surprised.
Put the ladder on a poster
Once you have the prices, the fee chart maker turns them into a poster for your wall or WhatsApp status. To see what your monthly numbers add up to, try the gym profit calculator. If you are also weighing software costs, read the gym management software price guide.
Questions and answers
How much discount should I give on a 12 month gym plan?
There is no fixed number. Work backwards from what you can afford: the discount is money you do not collect each month, so check that the lower per-month fee still covers your costs. Many owners keep the discount small on 3 months and larger on 12, so a longer commitment always looks like a better deal.
Why round the price to the nearest 50 or 100?
A round total such as 2,850 is easy to say, easy to write on a board and easy to collect in cash or UPI. Rounding moves the price by a few rupees, and the calculator shows the real per-month cost and saving after rounding.
Is the saving worked out against the monthly price?
Yes. Saving is the monthly price times the number of months, minus the plan price. A 3 month plan that costs less than three single months shows the difference as the saving.
Does this tool store my prices?
No. The sums run in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.
