Gym workout plan app: build a routine, assign it, share it as a PDF
Build day-based workout templates, assign one to a member or to many at once, and share the routine as a PDF with the member's name on it.
A gym workout plan app should let you write a routine once and hand it to the right members. In Varzish Mate you build a template with days, exercises and sets, assign it to one member or to a whole selection, and share the routine as a PDF with the member's name on it. Start the 30-day trial with no card and build your first template today.
Build a template
Open Workout templates in the club setup and tap New. Give the routine a name, such as "Push, Pull, Legs", and an optional description: who it is for, how many days a week.
- Add days. A routine is a set of days. Add a day, rename it, and reorder days with the arrows.
- Add exercises to a day. Tap Add exercises. This opens the exercise library, where you tick as many as you like and add them in one go. An exercise already in that day shows as Added.
- Set the sets. Open an exercise and add sets. Each set takes weight in kg, reps, rest in seconds, tempo (for example 3-1-1) and a short note. Move an exercise up or down, or remove it.
- Save. Saving publishes the template, and it can be assigned straight away. A saved template is locked until you choose Unlock from its menu, so a routine members already hold does not change by accident.
The template list shows each routine's days, exercise count and how many members hold it. The ⋮ menu on a saved template also has Duplicate, which is the quick way to make a variation, and Delete.

Assign it to a member
Open a member and go to the Workout tab. Tap Assign a template, pick one, and it is on that member's record. Tap Change template to swap it for another.
A member's routine is their own copy. If you edit the template afterwards, members who already hold it keep the version they were given, and deleting a template does not take it off anyone. To update people, assign the template again.
Assign to many members at once
On the Members screen, long-press a member to start selecting, or tick the checkboxes. All selects the members on the page, and one pass takes up to 100. Then tap Assign workout and choose the routine. The app writes it to each member in turn and tells you how many were assigned and whether any failed. The same selection bar has Move to batch, for batches.
Narrow the list first with the filters, for example by plan or batch, so the selection is the right group.
The routine PDF
On a member's Workout tab, tap Share as PDF. On the web console the same button reads Download PDF and saves the file, and the app then offers a WhatsApp chat with a short line typed in; you attach the file yourself.
The PDF is made on your device and carries:
- your gym's letterhead, with its logo, address and contact details if you have filled them in
- the routine name and "Prepared for" the member's name
- a cover with the number of days, exercises and sets
- a muscle map that shades the primary and secondary muscles the routine works
- one page section per day, with each exercise's sets, reps, weight, rest, tempo and notes
The same PDF is on the template's ⋮ menu, without a member's name, for when you want a copy for the notice board or a trainer. The receipt and statement PDFs work the same way.
Who this is for, and what it does not do
This suits a gym where trainers give members written routines and the owner wants them in one place, rather than in a notebook or a chat. Trainers can assign templates, but only the owner builds them.
It does not log what a member lifted in each session, and it does not suggest a routine for you. The app screens and the PDF labels are in English.
Questions and answers
Can I build a workout routine once and give it to many members?
Yes. Save a template, then assign it from a member's record, or select several members on the Members screen and use Assign workout to give them all the same routine.
What can I set for each exercise?
Each exercise has sets, and each set has weight, reps, rest in seconds, tempo and a note. You add and remove sets as you need.
What is on the routine PDF?
The routine name, 'Prepared for' the member's name, your gym's letterhead, the days with each exercise's sets, reps, weight, rest, tempo and notes, and a muscle map. It is a plan, not a record of what was done.
If I change a template, do members get the change?
No. A member holds their own copy of the routine from the day you assign it. After you edit a template, assign it again to the members who should have the new version.
Can a trainer assign workouts?
Yes. A trainer can assign a saved template from a member's record, or to several members at once. Building and editing templates is the owner's job.
Does it track what a member lifted in each session?
No. The routine is a plan you hand over. The app does not log sets and reps during a workout.
