Wellyx alternative for Indian gyms: Varzish Mate compared
Wellyx is studio and gym software with online class booking, a website builder, member and staff apps and door access, priced in US dollars by default. Varzish Mate is for one owner-run Indian gym: priced in rupees, built around fee reminders, receipts and cash and UPI collection.
If you run a boutique studio with class booking, door access or several locations, Wellyx is built for that. If you run one gym from your phone, Varzish Mate is closer to how you work.
Where Varzish Mate is stronger
- Check-in with no hardware. Print the QR poster and members scan it with their own phones, type their number and are marked in. Wellyx lists door access with QR, NFC and fobs, which controls the door and needs devices fitted. If you only need to know who came, the poster is enough. See gym attendance app.
- Prices in rupees, on the page. Every plan and what it includes is on our pricing page, with 18% GST added at checkout. Wellyx shows US dollars by default.
- A trial with a stated length. 30 days free with no card, and you start by signing in with your phone number. Wellyx has a Try for free button, but the length is not stated on their page.
- Built for cash and UPI. You mark each payment as cash, UPI or card and the app issues a PDF receipt you share on WhatsApp. It lands in a running ledger on the money screen.
- Reminders you control. The app lists who is due and writes the message in English or Hindi. You choose per reminder type: open your own WhatsApp with the text filled in (your number, your wording), or let Varzish Mate send it automatically within your plan's credits. Nothing is sent automatically unless you set it to Auto.
- Trainers never see money. Trainers cannot open the money screen, setup, export or billing. Wellyx lists per-role permissions but not the role names. See trainer access.
- Workout routines and batches in the club app. Build day-by-day templates from an exercise library with your own exercises, assign them, and share a routine PDF with your letterhead and the member's name. Batches carry a time, a capacity and a trainer. We did not find workout plans or batch capacity mentioned on the Wellyx pages we read; Wellyx does list a shared calendar for classes and online booking, which we do not have. See workout plan app and batch management app.

Billing for an Indian gym
Wellyx names Stripe, PayTabs and GoCardless as payment gateways in its FAQ. We could not see UPI named, so if your members pay in cash and UPI at the desk, check with Wellyx that your payment mix is supported.
Varzish Mate does not take the payment. You record it, share the PDF receipt, and the amount lands in the ledger.

Their pricing page has a Try for free button and a Book a demo option, and says there is no payment up front. The trial length is not stated. Varzish Mate gives 30 days free with no card.
Which is better for a boutique studio with class booking and door control?
Wellyx. Wellyx lists online bookings, a website builder, door access with QR, NFC and fobs, and multi-location management. Varzish Mate does not do class booking or door control. What it has instead is QR check-in on members' own phones, with no hardware: a poster to scan, not a door that opens.
How does a Varzish Mate gym record UPI and cash payments?
You record each payment as cash, UPI or card when you collect or renew. Varzish Mate does not process the payment; it records it, issues a PDF receipt and adds it to your ledger.
Can Varzish Mate run several branches?
No. Varzish Mate is one gym per account today. If you run several locations from one system, Wellyx lists multi-location management and is the better fit. If you would rather have this in Varzish Mate, email [email protected] so we know how many gyms ask.
